pat on the back- where are you?! | ADHD Information
hello everyone,
i really enjoyed this series of posts when they appeared and i,m just wondering where all the 'patters' have gone?
for me i,m giving myself a huge pat for coping nearly six weeks on a reduced dosage until my liver was o.k'd.
you can tell it has been upped again 'cos i can focus and pay attention long enough to post again!
love to hear of your achievements!
take care,
jhazthanks bluebird for both your replies!
i had a problem for a time with 'fatty liver' and methylphenadate can cause liver damage in rare cases. this is easily checked with a simple blood test which tracks the enzme 'alt' which indicates damage is being done.
here inthe uk nhs doctors don't seem to know very much about meds. my psychiatrist had never prescribed for an adult before and the person who diagnosed me told my gp he had no experience of it affecting the liver!
i was started on 20mg twice daily and upped to 30mg after one week so my alt leevels shot up. happily they seem to be at a better level now and having been reduced to 10mg per day i am now back up to 15mg but i need to have blood tests every fortnight at the moment.
i think if you are on any of these meds or a combination it is worth while asking you doctor to check your liver as it is so easily done.
otherwise i continue to care for my two diabetic cats and am working hard to get my autobiograph done, hence my question in the other post!
thanks for responding - sometimes there are just too many dragons to slay don't you think?
take care,
jhazPAT, PAT, PAT!
Personally, I have been busy out slaying dragons. I'm a little battle weary and needed to come back here to recuperate.
Glad to hear your liver is OK. I have been thinking that I should get
mine checked too, just to be sure these meds aren't doing any damage.
How's everything else going, jhaz?

Well my washing is all done, and my house is tidy. hi rae!
i know what you mean!
people just don't understand what a big job this is for us.
i hoovered my tiny flat on monday ( 3rd time in ten weeks ) and i felt such a sense of achievement. i take my hoover out about a week before i 'know' i should do it and eventually i do and wonder why it took me so long!
housework doesn't bother me until the mess clutters up my mind then i have to do something about it.
thanks for responding,
jhaz
Oh wow, I forgot all about the pat on the back.
Mines not that great, but to me it is! I just got out all of our Christmas decorations and realized I had actually marked each box & bag as to what room they are for
. I guess most people do, but usually I just guessed and cussed when they weren't right!
Of course my hubby helps me. I don't do ladders!
So, if any of y'all are in the Tampa Bay area, just look for a house thats lit up like a Roman candle.
. Now I have to get to work and hang the indoor stuff. I would like to give everyone here in our ever growing ADD/ADHD family a pat on the back for all acomplishments and having the courage to "tough it out", even when things go wrong!

Latina-ADD38311.4205787037Hey Damian reached his reward - he was good all week and now we go to the bike park - pity it is full of hoons - may have to find something else to do
My family is coming for Thanksgiving (mother, brother and wife and kids). I went out and bought everything I was supposed to-5 days early. Now lets see if I can claen the house and make the stuffing on tuesday and remember to defrost the Turkey.

Well done everyone!
this week i've gone to an art group but managed to work on my synopsis (half way through now), anyone else manage to hyperfocus in busy, noisy places? Took my diabetic cat for his checkup, got myself to hospital for results of mri scan, had usual bloods done at my gp's today to see if increased dosage is damaging liver again.
stripped my bed and did washing, cooked lovely veggies, talked ages to a dear friend and now i, talking to you to put off yet again to going back to my synopsis!
I,m going to make myself a daily schedule now and pencil in definite hours for procrastination and see if that helps.
keep on 'patting',
jhaz
ps can anyone let me know the time difference between here and us?jhaz38317.3526157407
Yeah, let's "Keep The Pat Alive"!
Hey jhaz - way to go on your reduced dosage.
Hey Rae, way to go with the tidy house (I wonder what percentage of this board's members can say that on a regular basis?)
Hey Latina, next thing you know you will write a book on organization skills!
Hey schwep, shopped ahead of time! I am impressed. No midnight supermarket runs!
Mine is that I think I have found a new job. I conciously tried to get another position at my company that is a lot more "ADD-Friendly". It is a job that I used to do before I was promoted. I had to admit that I was not doing well in my current position and that I wanted to go back to the other job that I was much better at (did not mention ADD). So I had to more or less publicly admit failure. At least that is what it looks like, it really is actually a success.
I find out for sure on Monday.
30 Minutes until my family arrives. Everything is set. I bought everything I was supposed to. I was going to REALLY clean the house, but screw it. It's my house. Last minute run-aroun clean again. Had to go out and grab a quick smoke first.
I'm coming back in the house, and the answering machine is playing a messange from the bakery saying they're closing in 5 minutes and my order is still there. OOPS!
Guess I wasn't completely ready
