Adderall "XXR" | ADHD Information
I know shire received an approvable letter for their triple beaded adderall which can provide coverage for up to 16 hours back in May. I can't find anywhere when they are planning to get it on the market. I read that Shire may delay releasing it while they concentrate on marketing vyvanse. Does anybody know anything about that? It is so frustrating that they have the technology and approval for a drug that could be helpful but don't get it out there b/c of marketing reasons!!My child's developmental ped. theorizes that the 24-hour version of guanfacine will be delayed for the same reason. He said that he doesn't think it'll be out for another 1-1.5 years b/c of the marketing focus on Vyvynase now (he said this in July 2007).
That's a bummer b/c that is another drug that we want to try when it comes out. Shire is clearly REALLY pushing vyvanse. They want to switch all their adderall Xr patients before the generic becomes available. One of the big advantages that they are promoting about vyvanse is that it is really long lasting (truly 12 hrs.) so if they put adderall "XXR" out there it would be longer lasting. My dd has been on vyvanse for a while now and has been through one week of school on it and it is not lasting that long. In fact I think adderall XR may last longer for her. It is too bad b/c I think my dd could possibly benefit from both of those new drugs.
Good Luck!
