Medication Help | ADHD Information

My son who is 11 years is very small for his age and very bad appetite. He takes 20mg Equasym (Ritalin) twice a day and then 10mg later on. We have tried straterra but that didn't work. He suffers from very bad tics which we think are made worse by his meds. We live in the UK and don't know what other meds there are out there to control his ADHD that may help his tics subside and help him sleep. Any advice on what works for others would be appreciated.

 Thanks

the tricyclic antipdepressants.

Look at brand Norpramin, may be available there, or under another name???

We use Desipramine and have used Nortryptiline. The Nortryptiline would help with sleep also and weight gain.

Another option would be a combination of tenex (guanfacine) or clonidine and a lowered dose of the stimulant.

we tried that combination and the Guanfacine did help with the tics. They did not go away for us until we stopped the stim altogether though. It may be worth a try though.
