My son is 10 and currently takes 25 mg. of Dexedrine per day as well as 10 mg. of Zyprexa for PDD. Just recently moved up the dosage of Dexedrine from 15 mg. per day - he has a hard time swallowing pills, so he is on the 10 mg. tablets. How long in between doses has anyone tried? He takes a dose at 7 a.m. then was taking his second dose at school at 11 a.m. - the school says they start seeing him get hyper around 10:30 and would like to give it to him then - about 3 1/2 hours after the first dose. Any thoughts?

It sounds like your son metabolizes medication very quickly. My son has the same problem. We ended up giving him a dose every 3 hours until the Daytrana patch came out.
Now we don't have to worry about giving him multiple doses or giving him so much. The patch contains LESS medicine and works for him for at least 8 hours. He also has a low dose of 5mg Focalin as a booster.
I don't recommend 3 hour dosing at all, but because my son went through every ADHD med available, 3 hours dosing was unavoidable at the time. You may want to talk to your doctor about changing meds to something longer acting instead of increasing it to every 3 hours.
But then again, I am not a doctor, so please discuss all options with your child's doctor first before doing anything.
