Tenex will not probably help with focus either. You've begun the Strattera it's worth waiting it out. Lots of people have success.
Another option are tricyclic antidepressants, they can help with focus, anxiety and tics. As with all meds not for everyone, that is why there are so many.
Having adhd and tics is tough because stimulants can worsen tics. That leaves non-stimulants and non-stimulants like strattera have a much lower degree and chance of success. You might ask your doctor about Tenex. Tenex kicks in pretty much right away and works much better than Strattera. Personally, I'd only suggest trying Strattera when you've tried every other medication known to man. That you only Ritalin leaves open the possibility that you could try one or two other ritalin-based stimulants as well, just to make sure it's not the delivery system. Concerta, Focalin XR, and the Daytrana Ritalin Patch are all good options. For amphetamine-based stimulants, there is adderall xr and vyvanse. Since they are in and out of your system in one day, it won't hurt to at least try a few more stimulants. You never know. Also, a common med combo from docs is a low dose of a stimulant and Tenex.
I'd avoid Strattera at all costs. Try Wellbutrin before Strattera if everything else doesn't work. Strattera equals placebo =)
Strattera does not equal a placebo, the problem is that MANY Dr's don't read the dosing info and ramp properly or dose at the right rate for weight.
Hi,
Ive been on it for 3 weeks at 40 mgs and going up to 80 mgs this week. My weight is 190 pounds.
I tried ritalin and due to tics (tourette syndrome) were worse but I could read a whole page of the newspaper within 2-3 days. Loved it but will I get it with back with straterra....
Thanks
Strat takes 4-6 weeks after reaching target dose to see results.
