His target dose is 48-72 mgs(50-70), so you are going to see mood swings as long as he is not up to target. That is one of the side effects.  It would have been better to start at 10 mgs, and move up to target within  2 weeks, as recommended. He could probably go up 10mgs at a time with no problems, or even go to 40 mgs at this point, then add 10 every few days until target is reached.

Maybe increase in smaller doses like edbson suggests. Ten mg at a time.

My son has been taking 25 mg. of Straterra each day along with 15 mg. of Focalin XR.  I have decided to eliminate the Focalin because of the massive mood swings and anger that my son has when taking this (so far all stimulants have had this effect on him).  Now I am considering talking to the doctor about ramping up the Straterra dose.  My son is 13 and weighs around 90 lbs.  He has been taking the Straterra for almost 2 months and even though the 25 mgs is not even close to his target dose it does seem to help him but just not quite enough.  This is the second time we have tried Straterra the first time we had to stop it because he got VERY sick right after moving from the 25 mg to 40 mg.  Now I am wondering if it might work better because he has been taking the 25 mgs. for so long.  Last time he took the 25 mgs for 7 days and then went on up to the 40 mgs.  I wish we could take it nice and slow and ramp up 5 mg each month but since they don't make 5 mgs I'm not sure the best way to take it nice and slow from here.  Any suggestions??I became sick when I first took Strattera. I hated it. My doctor
stopped it for a week and restarted it. I wasn't sick after the second start.
