Maybe mixing it with something less thick, like yogurt or applesauce or even a little ice cream?
Practice swallowing something something smaller to practice with pills, like mini M & M's or tic tacs. Do the same at first put it in some yogurt or ice cream and work your way up to swallowing with a liquid.
I've never used this, but read on here somewhere CVS sells a special cup to help children learn to swallow pills. People have said it works great.
Good Luck! It took us a long time to teach this and we didnt have the option of a patch when my daughter started meds.
For all of you, there is hope...........my daughter was THE WORST! She's getting down these huge Omega 3 every day now.We tried everything but because of his anxiety issues sprinkling on ice cream is the only way we can get down the pill (FocalinXR) I guess for now it will have to do.Get her to swallow pills. Start with cake sprinkles, then the larger circle cake sprinkes, tic tacs, M&Ms, etc. Have her stick in on the very back of her tongue. In my previous post I told yall about my 9 year old daughter who is having the hardest time swallowing a pill.
She gets herself so worked up about it that it takes her 10-15 minutes to take the darn thing. I open the capsule and mix the medicine (Adderall XR 15mg) with icing. She puts the spoon in her mouth and takes it out and repeats. Nobody can move or talk while she is taking her medicine.
I can not take it anymore!!! Does anyone have any suggestions?? I can not afford the 0 a month for the patch!!
HELP!
