Hi There, What a shame you were not diagnosed many years ago, you must have gone through so much for so long.
I am so pleased that things seem to be working out for you and hope that the future will be a happy and more settled one.
Here is a big hug for you take care
mum to three:
11 year old ADHD/Tourettes, 8 year old ADHD/Tourettes, 22month old (showing signs of ADHD)
When I was young I did not seem to fit in the groups. At school I was trying hard but not getting anywhere. In grade 10 I got a 36% in algebra, quit school and joined the Canadian Air Force. After 4 years in the military police I was able to join a regular police force and made a career out of it. I'm now 60 and looking at the past I very weel fit in the ADDH category but was first diagnosed with bipolar in 79 and in 87 was change to chronic depression and anxiety and finally this spring the psychiatrist suggested ADHD. So during all these years I've spent thousands of $$$ in therapy which helped me but did not last.
At first she tried me on ritalin and was able to read a newpaper article for the first time but had too many tics so 3 weeks ago she switched me to stattera at 40 mgs and went up to 80 mgs today and waiting to see if I will be as sharp as the ritalin.. I've improved in many ways but I still have to deal with the depression and the lost of self esteem that it caused over the years. This time knowing the cause a therapy will be more beneficial I hope!!
Forgot!!! I've had multiple sclerosis for 35 years..
