My youngest is on risperdal and tenex (on break from the focalin for now). The tenex works well for her hyperactivity and impulsiveness. I can tell when she has forgotten to take it . We worked her up to 2mg am and 2mg at bedtime, with an occasional afternoon 1/2mg boost for challenging social activities. We slowly increased the med by 1/2mg increments every 4-7 days until we got to this dose. Some parents have found they need to increase by 1/4mg increments because of side effects. SLeepiness can be an issue.

My 81/2 yr old son has been on Ritalin LA 30 mg for about 4 years it always worked somewhat well however 3 weekd ago he had a bad anxiety attack and I had to go to the hospital with him I was told that Ritalin can sometimes cause mania or enhance anxieties eventhough a person could be taking it so long without any of this happening he is now on Resperadal 1mg in the evening and I just started him on 1/2 mg of tenex in the mor so he could manage himself in school mstly his hyperness does anyone use this med for hyperness and how long does it take to work right now it just makes him sleepy does anyone have a similar experience with the ritalin??? sara212239328.9090162037
