Great 1st day of school | ADHD Information

Just wanted to let everyone know, there is hope out there. After months of anxiety both on my and my 9year old's part, Yesterday he had a great day of school. One of his best friends is in the room. His friend who is a BAD influence is not(YEAH) and his teacher who has a rep of being mean was very sweet and said he had a terrific day. We have just started meds 4 days ago. He even said he got lucky cause his teach was a UCLA fan(as is he). She said in her experience it will take 2-3 weeks for the meds to take full effect(yes even the stimulants) but he ate lunch, had a snack and even WROTE an essay, something he would have had a meltdown over 3 weeks ago. We will see when homework hits, we might need a med booster in the afternoon, but we will address it as it comes. There is some light at the end of the tunnell!!!

I'm so happy for you. It's great to read good things too.

Sometimes we get caught up on just posting the bad and there is a lot of good out there.

That is great news everyone!!

Congratulations on having great starts to the year.  What a difference a teacher makes!!!

One day I was doing a relief session in the class next door and I listened all day to this teacher yelling, belittling and abusing the kids.  It was truly sickening.  I wanted to go next door and throw her out.  She has distroyed so many kids!!!  The class I was in told me that is what she is like every day!  After the hour session, I walked out to see the 11 year old she was yelling at crying and hiding around the corner.  She has totally distroyed this child.  Believe it or not her first name is "Hope"  ...So much for the name!!!

Happyrock39333.0424652778My son spit some or all of his meds out yesterday and made me very angry. I told him we would see at the end of the day how different his day went and how different he felt. When he got home, his teach told dad she definatly noticed a difference but he was managable. He felt horrible. We talked for a minute and he says it won't happen again. We will see. Thank God for an understanding teacher! What a difference from last year.Awesome.  It feels good doesn't it?  Yay for your ds If you don't mind me asking - what med did you use?  How are the side effects? We are new to this whole thing and trying to find the right med.My girl did not want to go to school yesterday and when she got home could not stop talking about her new teacher this morning she could not wait to go and made her new teacher a picture.  I had heard she is good with kids with ADHD from others.  Her teachers last year were good too so I am happy.  Last year we heard her teacher was going to be mean and yells a lot but he was good last year she loved him too.  Do not believe everything you hear.
