welcome.

There are lots of success stories! If Adderall has been your first med trial, dont get too frustrated, it generally takes a bit of time to find the right medication at the right dose. Every person is different and what works for one can be useless to another. There are many, many med options out there and I think even more alternative options. The best you can do is educate yourself and keep trying.

My son is newly diagnosed with ADHD inattentive type. He is nine and his primary difficulty is underperformance at school.

We have tried one month with Adderall and are seeing the doctor today for a recheck. We will need to try something different due to increased sensitivity/crying that is very unusual for him. It appears to be when it is wearing off.

Anyway - I was hoping to hear from some people who have successfully treated themselves or their children.

Can anyone share your success, including what med or natural products you use?

My youngest went from Ds and Fs, frustration and anxiety, and not finishing classwork or homework (with hours of effort). With meds, she finishes most of her homework in class, is getting As and Bs and is so much happier and less frustrated with school. The anxiety complicates things but we are managing that as well.

My oldest is inattentive and would lose her work. With meds, she got straight As last trimester and did not miss an assignment.

My son is also adhd (inattentive) and it seemed that when he was adjusting to his med in the very beginning he was more emotional. It was when they were trying to adjust his dose. However, now he is doing great...he had appetite suppression also. He is even eating again. And doing GREAT in school! His performance in school was like night and day! We got his progress report Monday...He has a 99 average in math..97 in reading. All A's except one 89 in language. He is a great student. His teachers are amazed at him. Let me just say...it takes a while to get the dose right but when it is right it all clicks! Good Luck!
