adults taking vyvanse | ADHD Information

In my son's case.... yes he has done well for a month even longer then the effects were less noticible....so the Dr. upped the dosage and he did better... He just stared vyvanse 50mg so far so good but he is sleepy... do you feel that way?

I am brand new to learning I have ADHD.  And my doctor has prescribed 30mg of Vyvanse.  (taking up to 60mg if I thought I needed more of an effect).  I have now been on it for 1 week.  I am 29 years old.

I had good results on the 30mg for the first 2-3 days.  Then I started hardly feeling an effect.  But I also was about to start my period.  I don't know if that means anything, but I have read that the menstrual cycle can interfere with meds so I'm just waiting until the end of the week and will see if I see results again.  Maybe the same thing happened to you?

I am blogging about what I experience everyday on my meds.  Feel free to visit my blog if you want to know more about it.  Since Vyvanse is so new, maybe this will help others and since my memory is pretty bad, blogging daily will hopefully help my doctor when it comes to adjusting meds.

I don't have any experience with other ADHD meds, but in college I was put on an array of antidepressants, none of which helped me at all, over the course of 4-5 years.  Eventually I just got tired of the negative side effects with no results and stopped taking them.

i am 20 years old with severe ADD. i was diagnosed in kindergarden(very very adHd) so i've been taking medication almost all my life. i have tried so many! the one i had been taking the longest was adderall. i went back and forth from regular to xr. but i had been taking it for so long that even with the highest dosage, it just stopped affecting me completely.

anyway.. i was having alot of trouble focusing at work.. so i talked to my doctor and he prescribed me to vyvanse 30mg about a month ago. the first day i was pretty irritable in the afternoon, but that might have been because of the situation i was in. for the rest of the first week or so i loved it! you wouldn't believe how much motivation i had to get organized. i got so many things done! i was really able to open my eyes to more things around me and i was more interested in talking to people. the only major side effect was my appetite was down. i would forget about eating, which is actually a good thing for me because without it, i eat wayyy too much. i was a tad irritable here and there, and i had some dry mouth but it was very mild.

i take it at about 7 am, and it seems to last well past dinner time. i know most people say they have trouble sleeping at night, which would be a major problem for me because i already have insomnia. but luckily i take lunesta for that so i'm fine.

now, after taking it for a month, i am starting to not feel its affects anymore. my question is, for anyone taking it, have you had this problem and gone up in dosage? if so did it help? because i think that might be what i need to do.
