it seems like the insurance rules everything.mine had denied insulin for me because it was'nt a covered drug,i'd be dead in two days without it.have you asked the dr about this sometimes the dr can call and override the insurance company.good luckHi to all,

My 6 year old just started Straterra & finished the starter pack. Then I found out that insurance doesn't cover it.(Don't I have enough to deal with?) They will cover Ritalin or Adderall. I'm pissed that the insurance company is making my son's medical decisions, but just venting over that. Does anyone have opinions on which to use?

With ADHD medications, one is not better than the other as every child responds differently. Whats an effective dose for one child on one med may not be effective for another and whats an effective med for one child may not be right for another. Staterra is a fairly new drug and maybe thats why the insurance company wont cover it. Good luck and keep us posted.

Luvmykids0238310.4176736111Definately tell your doctor monkey's mom. A letter from him stating the meds are needed will most likely solve the insurance problem. I had the same problem with my insurance (they didn't want to cover the adderall) my doctor sent a letter and then they covered it.Have the doctor right a letter saying it is medically nessary for your child to use this drug and 99 percent of the time after a few days it will go through,,ask for a few more starter packs to get you through
