Now that is a cool idea. I'll be keeping that in mind. And maybe when my son has a really bad day at school I'l down some of it myself! LOLThanks so much for all your advice. He went to bed quicker last night with 2
mg melatonin. He is up at his normal 5:30 am and seems OK. Hope to have
a better day today. I will let you know.My 7 year old ds is having trouble getting to sleep. It is starting to affect his
behavior during the day at school. I am trying melatonin (1.5 - 2 mg). It
doesn't seem to help. He takes 15 mg Daytrana and 25 mg Zoloft (anxiety).
Any suggestions that could help us? We try the whole bedtime routine,
white noise machine, etc. Suggestions needed! We keep the Daytrana patch
on longer than recommended (12 hours). The doctor said it was OK. Do
you think that this is causing him sleep problems? We tried Melatonin also and it worked for a while, then we had to get stronger meds from the pediatrician.I take melatonin and it helps me wind down and forget the day.Funny how we differ?
We learned in adhd parenting class that the colour in his room and/or amount of toys/clutter can also contribute to bad sleeping.
You could try chamomile tea for kids. They sell it at the grocery store. You could try Calming Spray or Monster Spray. You can order that stuff online. It's a spray with chamomile and lavender. Also, you can bump up the melatonin to six mg max. If it doesn't work you may need a clonodine prescription. I may have spelled that wrong. It's the typical med prescribed for kids to sleep who are taking stimulants.
Hi,
When my son was initially on stims we tried melatonin and it didn't work. Now, (9 months later) we have tried liquid melatonin and it really seems to work. Just a thought.
