The only good thing about my ds' trial of Concerta was that he got a voucher for 1 free bottle, then another for half off, and even another for 1/2 off the third bottle. But it didn't do well for him. It made him lethargic, no appetite, and gave him horrible stomachaches.
So we moved on to Vyvanse. Got a free voucher and signed up by phone for some program. Apparently the program offers nothing except website advice stuff. The good thing is, this med seems to really work with no side effects! I was really hoping for future offers of $ off.
He needed to move up to 50mg, so the ped said he had a voucher for me since we had just filled the second bottle of 30 mg quite recently. I called the number, activated it, and then got to the pharmacy only to find out that it was invalid; you only get one free bottle! Ds is going to be p*ssed! /bottle in the past two weeks. we don't have. I called the Vyvanse 800 # and they were like, "yeah, so???"
Rant is right!! Vyvanse exists to make $$$ for its maker #1, provide relief for Ds #2. When the patent runs out on Vyvanse, you can be sure Shire's plan is to have another ADHD "new and improved" medication to roll out, and it will push doctors to prescribe it over Vyvanse and offer free trials to lure patients...just as it's doing now to ween patients away from Adderall (which is now offered in generic form).
I agree it's unfortunate and limits our choices to what we can afford. I think relief will only when changes are made at the corporate or federal law level!
