my question is.. do you really feel like u've been on speed? i've done research online some.. and people explain it as that. i've tried cocaine once and i was wired and had to clean out and organize everything... is adderall or the other add/adhd stimulants similar?
nope none of the meds do that. if they did, the doctors wouldn't prescribe them. why do you ask? I have never felt like I am on speed while on adderall. I feel calmed down and focused in. Almost like the me that I know is there can finally break through. I feel like I can accomplish anything I try, mainly because I am not getting distracted every 10 minutes. Tonight I sat grading my student's papers, while my adderall was wearing off. I went from being extremely productive at first, to spending significnatly more time on the last class because I couldn't keep my rear end in the chair. I would say I feel like I am in control of my actions, as opposed to being controlled by my impulsive, hyperactive nature.
I've never tried cocaine, and the only "speedy" type thing I've ever taken besides coffee (which calms me down) is Adderall. It's been over a year and a half taking it, and I'm still waiting for the Adderall to inspire, compel or cajole me into cleaning out my bedroom, my desk, and my three car garage. So far, it's just not happening!
The most apt description of stimulant meds that I've heard is it is like glasses for the brain. It just makes everything a little clearer and more focused.
My experience has been that I can actually complete a task/chore from start to finish- something that rarely happened pre-meds.
There are a lot of rumors floating around on the web ( I heard Harvard pays big bucks for certain male body parts ). Your best bet is to talk to your doc.
Since I've been taking this med I don't feel like i';ve been on speed. They are formed with similar compounds, but speed is addictive, takes 4-5 times as long to excape the body and many other negative things this med doesn't have.
