FocalinXR and facial tics | ADHD Information

A couple of things. Not all stims will cause the tic. If he's having rebound and tics, then you may want to think about adding something or switching. A lot of people add Tenex (Guanfacine). This could hlep with both. It did somewhat for us. We had more signifcant tics (couldnt be ignored IMO). Certainly worth a try. The other option is to try a different stimulant. It appears that my son 9, who has been doing wonderfully at 5mg focalinXR at school is now after 3 weeks starting to have some minor facial tics in the evening before bed and especially if he is too tired.

I hate to stop the stims altogether as they have made a night and day difference at school. Now at home we see another side(probably the rebound.) alot of frustration, anger, defiance even though he is able to sit through homework now with little problem unlike the past years.

My question is, is there something to help with the tics as now they are minimal, and also with the behaivior that is not a stim? Do I even want to stop the stim if he only has these at night? He holds it together during the day very well his teacher says. And I assume ALL stims would do this to him if the FocalinXR is?

Many questions.
