new to ADHD, looking for a book referral | ADHD Information

Hi, I am 29 and was just diagnosed with ADHD.  My doctor already recommended the "You mean I'm not Lazy, Crazy, or Stupid?" book which I liked, but I am looking for recommendations for a really good book about being a woman with ADHD and one about how to help my relationship with my husband.  He and I are in marriage counseling, which led to getting me to an ADD proffessional for diagnosis, and we could really use some good reading at home to help us deal with this.

Thanks!

Luvmykids0239396.6351736111in addition there's the newer book Delivered from Distraction.. It's written by a guy with ADD/HD and it's awesome I've gotten a lot out of the Halloway book Driven to Distraction.  There's also a book called Women with Attention Deficit Disorder by Sarl Solden, but I haven't read it because right now I'm just trying to deal with my child's ADD and not mine

I am a women who was diagnosed as an adutl with ADD. The BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ is 'Women With Attention Deficit Disorder' by Sari Solden (who also has ADD).

I would encourage anyone who knows a woman with ADD to read this book. It's as if Sari Solden had followed me through my life and then wrote a book about it.

Book Description

Every year, millions of withdrawn little girls and chronically overwhelmed women go undiagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder because they don't fit the stereotypical profile: they’re not fast-talking, hyperactive, or inattentive, and they are not male. Sari Solden’s groundbreaking study reveals that ADD affects just as many women as men, and that the resulting depression, disorganization, anxiety, and underachievement are also symptoms of ADD. Newly revised and updated to reflect the latest clinical research, the book explores treatment and counseling options, and uses real-life case histories to examine the special challenges women with ADD and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) face, such as the shame of not fulfilling societal expectations. Included is a brand new chapter on friendship for women with ADHD. Three empowering steps — restructuring one's life, renegotiating relationships, and redefining self-image — help women take control of their lives and enjoy success on their own terms.
