Tenex with strattera?? | ADHD Information

what is his weight? The Strat dose may be wrong. He weighs 84 lbs.  I could raise it some (the doc will go up to 1.8 per kilo because he was in the trials) but I still don't think it's going to do anything for the impulse control and sitting still.  His psychiatrist said that his experience was that strattera was helpful for focus but not hyperness and definitely not for impulse control.  That's why he suggested trying a stimulant.  He has an appointment for a med check next week so I want to do my homework in advance.

His target is somewhere between 45-68 mgs, so he sould go up a  bit and I imagine you would see better results.

How long has he been on Strat?

My almost 12 year old takes 50mg. of strattera which helps to keep him focused in school and on homework.  BUT his is still quite hyper and has almost no impulse control.  I think he holds it together for school (all we've ever heard from teachers are asides about him falling out of his chair and disorganization issues, but it's never been brought up as a problem because he is an excellent student) but at home -argh!  We talked to the psychiatrist about a stimulant but DS really doesn't want to take one because he sees the ups and downs his brother goes through and he doesn't want to lose his appetite.

Has anyone tried tenex with strattera?  It seems like this may be a good combo but I can't find any threads that discussing it.   Why are so many doctor's hesitant to prescribe tenex?  Ours has never mentioned it one way or another.

If anyone can point me to a thread about this, thanks. I'm having trouble navigating the sight.

Thanks!
