Hi all! New here, My intro. | ADHD Information

Share
Hi Dawn, it's nice to meet you!  Caleb sounds like a great little guy!Welcome, I too have a 9 year old boy with ADHD and anxiety. We are just starting a new therapist today who I hope will help with some of our issues. For one he is supposed to be on medication which helps him tremendously with school and homework and friends but is refusing to take it for 2 weeks now. Hopefully we will find some help with the new therapist. My son is gifted and very intelligent but has the attention span of a gnat. They couldn't even score it on the test it was so bad. With the meds he can focus, learn and remember so much more. He also loves his skateboard and of course video games,he also says they relax him. Sounds similar. I am glad you found this board there is alot of good info out there and nice to hear others are going through the same thing as you. So again Welcome to the board and look forward to any updates.

Hello! I found this wonderful site last night. My name is Dawn. Married to John and we have 2 sweet boys ages 4 and 9. Our 9 year old has had adhd since he was around age 2. It has gotten alot worse since he started in school.

Here is a little about my son.

His name is Caleb. He is 9 years old. He is beyond hyper! He has to be moving, moving, moving at all times. He squirms in his seat, doesn't have a long attention span, is very noisey and likes to talk and also likes to be a little clown. It takes him sometimes 3 hours to do just 1 home-work sheet. He isn't all that great with handwriting. He is just a little fireball! However, he is the best drawer I've ever saw. He can draw better then myself. He is my little artist. He is funny, funny! Makes everyone laugh! Such a little jokester. He *loves* to skate on his skate board and is very good at it too! He is awesome at video games, the faster the better, he claims they make him feel calm. He is very smart and picks up on things alot easier then most kids in his class but just has a little attention span, hyperness that is holding him back right now. He is great at basketball, and is sooo friendly! He makes friends very easy and doesn't see a stranger. He is loving, caring and just the sweetest little fireball ever.

I am just now getting him signed up on a 504 plan at school. He is going to his very first therepy appointment today. He has had trip's to another behavior specialist that we didn't agree with. So we're hoping these new ones will help him more.

I look forward in getting to know you! I feel such a relief that I found this board. It is so wonderful to have found a place to chat with others that know what it's like to have an adhd child, get help, try to help others and share stories bad and good.

Thank you for reading!
