Attention Time Management | ADHD Information

I am still struggling wtih the same issues as in my first post.  I should probably spend more time on this forum, to get started.  I sometimes get started on a period of alert attention, and spend an hour or two of the attention period on forums that do not help my peronsal productivitiy.

So I linked this thread into a Word document on my computer.  I have some challenge in navigating this Forum, so Word can provide a shortcut.

I keep my houshold bills in a plastic baggie, with the newest ones due in the back.  I use a ball-point pen to put the date due on the top of the envelope, so I can see when the bills are due, so that I can procrastinate on paying bills, but there is a way to try to keep the wolf from the door.

I put our bills in a little plastic divider, do the same as you with putting the due date on the outside of the envelope in order of date due (even use a highlighter sometimes, too!), then will end up procrastinating about sitting down and writing checks ...

I have been trying to feel good about working ahead on my check writing.  I try to put a star on my calendar, an X with two extra lines, and give myself credit for writing checks, and recording the number of checks written.

I have been failing to take advantage of taking a nap after work.  Sometimes I woake up and dither my time away on the internet.  Soetimes, I just feel blocked, and just keep lieing comfortably in bed, and fall back asleep, then end up sleeping throughthe whole night, with nothing done.

I suppose I should exercise, drink a half cup of coffee, or otherwise get myself productively out of bed.  the nap after work is necessary, and if I dont take a nap, I just stay awake as a zombie, and get noting done, then I am tired at a regular bed time.

Otter39767.01I like using one of those rubber stamps to stamp as soon as i get a bill or some other piece of important mail.  i pull it out before I even open the envelopes.  my therapist suggested that i look at my online banking several times a day but i'm having a hard time with that.  online banking is quite intimidating.

i, too, have a tough time with being productive after working all day.  i come home, get something to eat and then become a couch potato-channel surfer.  sometimes i'll zone out for about 10 minutes (usually through the end of jeopardy for some reason) and then I can get up and go to bed but then i'm awake.  ugh!

My time for attending to tasks is limited.

If I start too early on a task, then I don't have the impetus of the last-minute for concentration.

If I wait too long, I have the last minute focus of energy, but I sometimes miss deadlines.

My overall productivity is not as good as it probably could be, potentially.

My wife is in denial about any ADHD traits, for herself, and is not comfortable thinking of herself as a Coach, so I have to deal with my own oppositional tendencies, as well as my wife's loose cannon explosions, and rattling randomly accross the deck.

I don't have my files very well organized.  I have a wide range of interests.  I started a thread on managing distractions.  But I think I need some positive strategies for being more productive.

I keep my houshold bills in a plastic baggie, with the newest ones due in the back.  I use a ball-point pen to put the date due on the top of the envelope, so I can see when the bills are due, so that I can procrastinate on paying bills, but there is a way to try to keep the wolf from the door.

Once my bills are pid 7 to 10 days ahead, I can sort mail, and start looking for more bills or due dates, to put in my Bills Due baggie.

I have been sleeping in.  I have been exercizeing on a stationary bicycle, and rehbilitating my right shouder with cable weights.

I would like to put my family budget in Excel.  I have many tasks I am procrstinating.

Maybe setting out 15 minutes to review a task, and calendar things to do, or fill out a task list on each delayed task on the compugter.

Maybe I need a procrastination drawer in a file cabinet.  I can put my break-down notes in the file for each procrastinated project.  I am good at denial myslef, so I can ignore porcrastinated tasks for weeks and months.

There was another recent time managmeent thread, but I started this one, because the other thread seemed more organized.  I probably need room to ramble on with my extraneous thoughts.

I will sleep in, and visualize a task, then get up and do the task, or recreational pleasure, like look at internet forums.

Maybe before going to bed, I could write a few things down to focus on for the next day.  Hve teh visions planted for tomorrow's productivity, before going to bed.  Should also go to bed earlier, but I am skilled at finding interesting things to do before I go to bed.
