Applying as a nurse to a former place of | ADHD Information
Well, I was a nurse for 7 years w/o knowing I had ADHD ( I don't know
HOW I got through nursing school) It was a really rough experience. I was
always in trouble (communication issues) I didn't work well w/others, My
scrubs were always too wrinkley (sp?).. eventually I became seriosly
depressed and could not work any more (I am on SSD). Now that I know
what I have, taking the right meds, If I was to go back into nursing (NOT!) I
would have to find a diiferent job then from the ER ( that's where I
worked). SO my point is communicate well, take your meds and set
boundries. Because you know how nurses can be.. nasty sometimes. Don't
lose your cool and don't let people walk on you. Also ADHD is under the
disabilities act, so if you need any work accomadations, legally it should
be provided.. Although, my experience is that the hospitals/management
doesn't really care about you, so, don't blurt out your adhd in an interview.
That would just as well not bother hiring you.
Okay, I don't meant to sound negative, I am not bitter or anything, it is
just what I have experienced. So I am back in college to be a social
worker....Hello everyone
I am looking for some thoughts on applying for jobs. I am finishing Nursing school and will be applying soon. I am looking to apply at a medical facility that I was formerly employed at. I was in more of a secretarial / clerical job. However, the last year it was a brutal experience. Partially because of a co-worker and partially because of management and my lack of desire / motivation.
These were years that I was not medicated for ADHD. I see the difference. However now that I am excelling in nursing and wanting to potentially apply, I’m afraid the past will deter me from being hired
I do not know what is in my file. I was basically forced to resign and they notated “educational”. I don’t know if anything else is there. I plan on looking into that this week.
How is one to convey this change in work ethic, personality etc on applications that are e-filed?
Any hints out there? I want to make it clear that I am motivated, dedicated and worthy of working in nursing at this facility.
Ideas?
