Placing it anywhere but the hip could be dangerous, I wouldn't do it.

Hi all

Anyone know WHY the patch is to be placed on the hip? Everywhere says to put it there, but I cant find the reason...............anyone know?

Diane

It is because the hip/bum is somewhat fatty( more so than other areas) and it helps the absorption/release. At least that is what Shire told us during the trials. We tried it on DD's shoulder( a directed by shire) and it totally wacked her out, she absorbed it WAY too fast and it only lasted about 5 hours. Wow, that is so interesting.  We have noticed that our son does better when it's on the hip bone than on the fattier (bum) part of the hip.  He doesn't seem to absorb it fast enough there.  I read in a discussion group once that someone had her son's on his back.  Maybe due to faster absorption? I didn't ask at the time.  Makes me think we should try the shoulder ....

They say not to put it on the fatty part of the hip as it absorbs differently there as well. Anyway absorbtion reasons that's why the less fleshy part of the hip is best.
