MEDICATION FOR GRANDSONat 11:30 am he takes another 0.1/2 mg of catapres and then 2.5 mg of regular focalin at 3 pm. it seems with this , he does so so..but he could explode at any given moment if things arent right..like certain noises. things to loud, changing his rountine, giving him certain foods, him losing a nintendo game that contain blue, red or carmel color..so i try to avoid these.or large groups of people.or the wrong type of lighting.. at times he gets so wound up..there is no getting him to listen..you tell him to stop or come back in house, he will yell "NEVER" other times its like he is in a complete different world. one time he had a major meltdown, later i asked him if he could tell me what happened..he said, mimi, im sorry..my generator in my head quit working. he has to take 1-1/2 mg of catapres at bedtime or he dont sleep..he will go 19 hours non stop and if things are out of rountine or he has some no no foods, even the medication dont work. can anyone relate to this or suggest what medications have worked well for them he was on straterra and it made his agression worse. Sounds like it might be rebound when the stimulant wears off. I would keep a journal of when the meds are taken and when the symptoms occur. This will help you and the doc determine the problem and correct it. Some kids can take clonidine during the day as well as at night. If it is too sedating, guanfacine is an alternative (same med catagory but not as sedating). Another thing to consider is a higher dose of the short acting focalin or a low dose of long acting focalin for the afternoon dose. |
