Hyperactive on Adderall XR | ADHD Information

My 8yo just started adderall xr 5-10mg/day (in addition to strattera). We gave her 5mg yesterday and we didn't see any improvement so we gave her 10mg today.  Her doctor said that she would probably need 10mg but to start with 5mg.  So today, on the 10mg, she was VERY hyper.  We did schoolwork and she did GREAT but she talked from the time she woke up to the time she went to bed.  Her eyes looked wide open all day.  So......I'm wondering....do I give her a few days on the 5mg and hope it starts working or do I give her 10mg and hope that her body adjusts and she becomes less hyper? I hate it that she has to go to school all day and I won't know how she's doing until she gets home from school.  Any ideas or experiences would be great! I would give the 5mgs at least a week before upping the dose. It will take that long for the body to adjust. Is Dr a ped or a psych? What is the Strat dose? What does she weigh?
