Did his inattention get better on Concerta?

My daugter has ADHD with co-existing anxiety. Most stimulants help her fidgeting and focus, but increase her anxiety. Most also cause tics. My guess would be his conditions co-exist. Was he diagnosed by a psychiatrist or neuropsychologist? They would easily differentiate the 2. I would think if he is obsessively worrying though it for sure will increase his inattention. Are you not treating the anxiety?

Can anyone tell me if an anxiety disorder in a child could be mistaken for adhd?  I know from doing research that a lot of children who have adhd also have some anxiety but is it possible that if a child is very anxious they would display the same symtoms of adhd, such as inattention?  The reason I'm asking is because my 10 yr old son seems to be very anxious about certain things.  For example he is afraid that something will happen to me, his mom.  He is an only child so we are very close.  Most of the time I think this is why, but I am beginning to wonder if maybe he has and had this disorder from the beginning which was back in first grade.  He is now in 6th grade and in middle school.  He also worries a lot when his dad, my husband is late for work.  Right away he thinks something bad has happened to him!  I do know that my husband was like this when he was a kid.  He told me when he was about 7yrs old he would stand by the door of his house until his mom came home from the store!  My son was on concerta 36mg up until 3 wks ago but we stopped it due to him getting too many facial tics.  I also noticed that when he was on it he would sometimes become more anxious.  Anyone with any information or same experiences please let me know!  Thankyou very much!Yes , Anxiety is very connected to ADHD. It all has to do with the pre frontal cortex of the brain.

You can google Dr. Amy Arnsten and read her research page and it explains it all.

Tenex is a med used for stress and anxiety effects on the prefrontal cortex which inhibits learning and memory.

When schools pressure your kids to do the new very high levels of work that are not age appropriate anymore, this stress on them just makes their ADHD worse. The old fashioned idea that you just crank the screws down tighter on these kids , has been disproved by Neuro Science. In our school you actually get punished for being stupid. The stupid kid gets all frustrated with all of this and acts out even more.

The No Child Left Behind act is actually the worst thing that could have happened  by ptting more pressure  on teachers , it all flows down hill to  more pressure and tactics on kids  to meet  the new state testing requirements.  Its all coming to a head , something has to give as this gets worse and worse.
