Eating problems! Seriously need HELP! | ADHD Information

A food war is a war that you cannot win. He is not going to expire. Let him eat what he wants for now. He will tire of this. Just put a cup of Pediasure next to the cereal and maybe he'll take a few sips. The phase will end and he will move on. I would of course eat nutritious meals in from of him and discuss with another person at the table how delicious they are.Not worth the battle!  Give him the choice - if he decides on cereal then so be it.  My son was exactly the same.  My brother would only eat chips, sausage and sauce .. today as an adult he is a wide eating vegetarian!!!  Thought about involving him in the food preparation?  Get him an apron and kids simple recipe book.  Pizza, fruit kebabs, fried rice.  Make traffic light kebabs with strawberry, orange and green apple. Pancakes are fun - so are making biscuits.   Then when he says he doesn't want it then don't argue or show any emotion.  If weight begins to drop, then time to investigate.  All the best!have to agree with willsmamam on this one. At least he eats cereal! Just keep offering and eventually he'll eat more. Dont beat yourself up.

It sounds as though your child has some sensory issues. It may be the texture of the food that is making him refuse to eat it, and making him throw up. I definitely recommend seeing his pediatrician and perhaps getting an evaluation for this. A lot of children that are in the hospital for a length of time, or have NG tubes have feeding issues. Sometimes speech therapist can help. Until then, cereal he wants, cereal he gets.

Good luck. A Mommy and a Nurse.

My non ADHD son is extremely picky also.. Some may disagree with me but I say pick your battles.  If he eats cereal, feed him that.  Give him whole milk and less sugary cereals.  Maybe treat him to a milkshake every now and then also, if he will drink one.  My son only eats chicken nuggets, spaghetti or pizza and he will  be 6 Thursday.  For breakfast, he will either have cinnamon rolls or muffins, nothing more.. And only drinks juicy Juice and water.  Milk gives him a tummy ache.

I'm hoping sooner or later, he will get tired of the same old stuff.  I will say that he is trying new foods on occasions already. Most of it, he doesn't like, but at least he's trying..He just learned tonight that the chicken I use in chicken and rice, is the same chicken that is breaded..

Also, he is almost 6 and barely weighs 40 pounds and that's with the huge growth spurt he just had.

Try not to worry so much.  Just offer him the best but forcing him to eat is not going to help or change him.. Trust me on that one.

My son is 4.  He was in a special needs preschool last yr and this yr moved up to a full day intergrated preschool as a role model student. He is being followed by a dr for possible autism /adhd (they arent sure and dont worry i am getting a second opinion on that).

Problem is-  since school started this yr, he REFUSES to eat lunch.  AND NOW he is refusing to eat at home!  ALL he wants to eat are snacks and cereal.  He wants cereal for all 3 meals.  EVERY DAY.  We have cut out alot of snacks but wont cut out the cereal b/c he will NOT eat anything if we do.  The things he used to eat- he refuses.  He says his belly gets sick.  He was a picky eater to begin with- only mac and cheese, pb, and chicken nuggets.  Ive tried to "punish" him to make him eat his food, but he gets so upset that when i do this- he throws up when trying to eat it.  I feel so bad.

ME and my husband are at our wits end- this child is already small- 38 inch and 34 lbs....and he isnt getting much nutrition.  i give him gummy vitamins and thats all.

PLEASE PLEASE give me some advice?  I dont know what could be causing this- he was FINE all summer.  It seems like since 9/1 this has started!  What woudl you do?  Im so worried for him!  I feel like if i give in to the cereal all the time- he will never go back to regular food.  We just came back from vacation and all he would eat was ice cream, jello, and cereal.  and I MEAN THATS ALL!
