Medications no longer working? | ADHD Information
Hello Everyone,
I'm a 20 year old male who has been taking Medications for ADD for about two years now. I started with 10 mg of Adderall, and it worked great. I found it every effective, and I did well in school. My body started to gain a tolerance to it and I bumped it up to 20 mg a day. This was pretty effective, and it worked for about a year (although I did take the summer off). Last winter, I could feel it wearing off, so I bumped it up to 40 mg, which worked for a few months, but when I stopped taking it during spring break I returned to find out it wasn't as effective. I kept trying it, but found it wasn't working. So I tried 60, which worked alright, than stagnated, than 80, which also didn't work.
When it wasn't working, it made me slightly happy, but I could feel my mind still wondering, and found myself procasinating again.
I tried Straterra, which didn't work, than Ritalin, which just made me really depressed. Now I'm on Dexedrine 15 mg and day twice daily. I can feel the procrasination, and other things that I felt when I felt adderall not working.
I don't drink, smoke, or do any drugs, and I do not take any stimulants for recreational uses.
My question is what should I do? Should I stop taking medications for my add, or what? I'm really confused and worried.
I also would contact your doctor, there are a lot of med options out there.I'm sorry you are having trouble finding the right med. Unfortunately, I don't have any advice. I think you need to consult with a dr.
