Margaret,
Hello First of all let me start off by saying God bless your daughter :) I hope she is doing well.... I have not contacted his school yet.... I havent even taken my son to the dr. about the touretts This all came to me yesterday!!!...and last year when I took my son to the dr. about the adhd he said he didnt have it.. that he was just a 7 year old lil boy and I thought great hes fine... But now I dont think hes fine... I dont think if he has the Touretts that its really bad but I do think he has it ... and adhd but I must say hes not really hyper at home but I guess in school he acting different ...
So I have alot to do ... I called the dr. yesterday but they didnt answer so im waiting for the call back today .. we'll see what happens Thank you so much for your reply its means alot to me .
when you took your daughter to the dr. about the touretts what kinda of tests did they do or questions did they ask ? just wondering
Janice
I have a doctor appointment tomorrow at 10:30 for my son
I'll keep you all posted
These could easily be ADHD behaviors....
always start with your pediatrician. They will refer you. Shoulder shrugging and throat clearing are common tics. Does your son have ADHD? Is he on any medication?

I will call my pediatrician in a few mins.... yea he would always clear his throat and I thought he had allergies or something.... also im not sure if this is a symptom or not but he is obsessed with always checking the Parental codes on video games if there Mature or if its for kids ... I always thought something was wrong with him I even had him checked for autisum befor he even started school and they said he didnt have it ... hes really good at math and reading ... its just he disrupts class not listening , doing the work fast to get it over with and bangs his head on the desk im overwhelmed!!!!! &n bsp; &n bsp; &n bsp; thanks so much for getting back to me ... it realy helps to talk to someone :)
sounds like you need a full evaluation to sort out exactly what is going on. Omg I came here today looking for info and insight on adhd and after reading alot of the posts I think my son has Touretts Syndrome!... For a while now he has been making noises last summer he was saying shoot under his breath all the time ... but we could hear him and then not long ago he would grunt all the time and when I asked him why he was making these noises he would say he dont know... also last year he started to always shrug his shoulders up and his head back still does this as of yesterday ... I just didnt know what it was I thought maybe it was just him doing what his friends were doing ... Now after reading this tourettes web site I'm thinking different! and im kinda upset ....Im not sure if I should call my doctor or get a specialist? anyone have any insite on this please PLEASE write back and let me know I have been looking for a tourettes message board but havent found any .. thank you so much for being here and listening to me ramble....glad you got to the doctors, sally school had to fill a form out (funny enough it came from america), then the school had to send it back to the hosptial, I also had to fill out a form and was asked various questions, then we went from they, sally use to have small episods of tics especially when watching tv or getting over extied, i just put that down to adhd. When she was put on med's after a month her tic's started to get worse, then two monts later trouttes started, but i was told it is'nt the meds some kid's with adhd have tic's and when they go trou puberty it can delvople into trouttess, luclky sally is now stop the troutess and we still have the tic's sorry if this does't make sense, hope all go well's and keep me posted
all the best margaret

madhouse39370.4010185185I took my lil Man to the dr. on Friday ... The Dr. said that he wanted me to get my son evaluated by the school then he will go from there ... He said my son might have to have med. but that might make the tics worse .... anyway I'll keep everyone posted.. thanks for all your replys :) JaniceHi Shane's Mommie,
My DD is 11.5 with Tourette Syndrome, ADHD, and OC symptoms.
If your pediatrician isn't well versed in TS, I highly recommend you schedule an appt. w/ a Ped. Neurologist who SPECIALIZES in TS (Not all of them do. Some may specialize in Epilepsy, Traumatic Brain Injury, etc.). Second choice would be a really good, experienced Psychiatrist. My DD's Ped. Neuro. is helping us w/ the TS and ADHD as our Pediatrician admitted not knowing enough about TS. It does get tricky when there are several comorbids present. The TS may not need medicine...Depends if it's effecting him physically or emotionally or not at all. Sometimes if a child is trying to hide their tics from others, they appear hyperactive.
You mentioned wanting to find a good TS message board. Here's a link to the one I belong to. There's a nice little group of caring, knowledgeable parents over there who are pretty experienced with TS, ADHD, OCD, and a few w/ ASD. Hope to see you there!
