I have a nine year old son who has adhd, tourettes and aspergers. Over the past four years he has been on various meds for the adhd symptons ritalin, concerta, straterra and risperdone. For the past 12 weeks he has been on Imprimine which I am not too happy about as the side affects appear quite dramatic a weight gain of 14lb, excessive sweating, does anyone have expereince of this medication???
not Imipramine, but we've used Nortryptiline and Desipramine. I liked Desipramine the best, least side effects. We only recently stopped it as it didnt quite help enough for school. Our issue is mainly inattention. She has no side effects from this med. Same family. I kind of think all the TCA's have a risk of weight gain. My daughter was SO thin and had lost so much on stimulants it doesnt matter to us, it actually helped. The Desipramine I didnt notice as much of an appetite increase as the Nortryptiline though.
