twitching while sleeping | ADHD Information
This may be a far fetch question but I have noticed my daughter alot lately twitching or jerking in her sleep- an arm then a leg then her head - a jerk then nothing for a hour then a few in a rowm then nothing again for a hour.
I had a patient once on an adhd med in the hospital that was still hyper during the day and then never really was still during his sleep. We thought it was the med but is it possible that the ADHD kids commonly jerk or twitch in their sleep?
All this ADHD stuff is new to me- so please bear with me with silly questions like this.My 9 year old jerks like a fish out of water in his sleep. His covers are all over the place and I assume he has a sleep disorder as I and my hubby do also. He has high anxiety and cannot go for a sleep study yet. He does not take his meds. His choice. So I know it is not that. he has done it for years. Maybe it is an ADHD thing? My son jerks and twitches in his sleep. And I mean major jerks, to the point that he would wake himself up. This has decreased with age, but when he was younger it was pretty consistent.my daughter who is nine also jerk's and shout's in her sleep especially if she is worked up about something, also she wakes herself up sometimes and is hungry.i just tink it is a normal thingI'm not sure that's an ADHD thing since I have it but my partners did not. Two of them tended to jerk during REM sleep to the point where it was impossible to sleep in the same bed with them and get any rest.
I only jerk if I'm dreaming of running or movement etc.
Even dogs jerk a lot during REM sleep sometimes when they yip and their feet are going chasing bunnies.
So, whatever it's related to--ADHD ain't it, IMHO.
