Bedwetting again! | ADHD Information
My daughter was wetting the bed almost 2 years ago for a year then stopped and now it is back again. What I am noticing is when she is sleeping she is sleeping deeply that when I take her to the bathroom at night she is sleep walking totally out of it. I have been getting her to bed on time except for the nights she is defiant and fighting us tooth and nail every step of the way. To remedy that we are getting her ready sooner. I purchased Good Nights for her for the nights I am too late.
Anyone know of anything to help her wake on her own to go as she used to? Ideas welcome for now she is into sleep overs and has a few good friends and I do not want them to know for her. The sad part is she is proud of her good nights and loves the design another issue.
My 7 year old had some random issues with that too. Sometimes something in their life is stressing them out and bedwetting can be the result. Try to find out if anything is really bothering her - school, friends, etc...
Last time my son did it was the first 2 days of school this year - nothing since then. I believe he was nervous starting the school year.
Also, sometimes it can be growth issues or an infection. Talk to the doctor.
Good luck

I've found it helps to have them use the bathroom twice before bed- sometimes they just don't empty the bladder completely the first time.
The other thing I've discovered with both my kids is that if they get cold at night they are more likely to have an accident. So make sure she's dressed warmly, especially this time of year.
Also, my 7 yr. old girl will not get up to use the bathroom unless the nightlights in the hall and bathroom are on- if you don't have them already you may want to consider it. It just makes it a little easier to get up and use the bathroom on their own.
I think the one saving grace about sleepovers (in regards to night time accidents anyway) is that the kids hardly ever sleep soundly enough for it to be a problem.
[QUOTE=Enbmom]You can buy a system that will wake her the minute she starts to pee in her sleep. My older son wet the bed at night way longer than we should have allowed in retrospect. We had the same problem - he was such a heavy sleeper that his body missed the urge. The problem with the Goon Nights is that then they can end up urinating in them several times a night which only makes it worse. The thing we bought was this alarm that went in his underpants and woke him up the minute he started to pee. It worked in 2 nights! It was loud but he got himself out of bed when it went off. After years of pull ups, he was done, boom. I can't remember the cost but it was cheaper than pull ups in the end. Just look up bedwetting on google. Good luck!

*What system and where can I get one? As for the good nights I am still waking her at night to go and if she is wet and i am late I will have her change and help her wash up the good nights are for misses. We have had dry nights but only because I am getting her up.

I sent you a private message with more info
Thanks
Get one of those bedwetting alarms that vibrates and flashes and makes eight different alternating alarms. My son hated it , and it worked like a charm. Woke up the whole house, but it was a done deal in three months. I think I got it at bedwettingstore.com. NoTellin39372.9904050926Have you looked into any medical reasons that she might be bedwetting? My son was never trained at night, and we found out just recently after being told all the things that I read above that he was constipated and the pressure pushed on his bladder.. at night he couldn't wake to go because he really couldn't feel it anyways and wet the bed. Also, she could just need a mild diuretic at night to help her stay dry. Diuretics are safe and effective. I'd see your ped and ask that they do something.I think it is best to just ignore it. Just be sympathetic.. Oh dear well lets just pull the sheets. Here you can do the detergent... Use the waterproof mattress pad and change the sheets together.
Prepare a bed on the floor or sofa and set out dry clothes for changing. Ask them not to wake you. I think taking charge of it will help immensely . My 6 year old gets up and changes and goes back to sleep on the sofa. he helps pull the sheets off and makes up the fresh bed. No big deal...
My other one wet until late in his 7th year. I bought pull ups and he told his dad he was afraid of loosing teeth and that mom would make him wear pull ups. Soon after He just stopped... now 9, I don't even use the waterproof mattress pad any more.
I also used the alarm system for my daughter. It wasn't cheap by any means but it worked! She has been dry now for 2 years. She was the heavy sleeper. She was actually not getting enough REM sleep. It's been so long but I believe the name was Pacific International. Hope this helps and good luck. It takes alot out of the little tikes and the older they get the more it works on thier self-esteem. mom539371.7399305556
