Does anyone have a child only on Tenex | ADHD Information
I was curious - I am starting to believe my son may not be ADHD but I wanted to talk with some parents who have children on Tenex only. Now I have our son 1/2 mg a day in am. No rebounds ever. No other issues either. His behavior has improved so much in the last 4 months it is amazing.
Now a little background - our son was adopted from foster care less than a year ago and there was no real evaluation to dx ADHD but they put him on tenex b/c of some impulse issues.
Now that everyone is more settled in our home I am noticing a difference in him and am starting to believe he may not have ADHD. Now I do have him take supplements too Omega 3 and Magnesium along with multi vitamin and occasional B-12.
We did experiment with taking him off tenex once and within 3 days he was very hyper. This was only after 3 months of staying with us so we put him back on. This was advised by our dr. but perhaps he wasn't settled in enough and something chemical was just out of his body and we didn't give him time to adjust. Anyway - we put him back on b/c the behavior at school was really bad. However, even on the tenex his behavior wasn't great but got progressively better over time. That was 7 months ago and this school year is so much better.
We will have him truly evaluated next summer but I was wondering if any other parents out there may have some similar experiences? I know many things mimic ADHD especially in adopted children.

My youngest was on Tenex only, for a while. It is great for her hyperactivity, impulsivity and defiance. We had to add a stimulant for school attention.
If he has never had a comprehensive diagnosis I would recommend having one done before using any meds. If you feel he does not have ADHD, get an eval to be sure.
