From memory from a Russell Barkley workshop. As I remember he stated that metronome therapy was not effective for adhd. If you need more let me know and I will try to find the data and check it out.
On the whole there is not a lot of evidence for most of the "alternative" therapies. Does not mean that some of them do not work but simply that there is no evidence. For some there is evidence they do not work. For some the jury is still out: for example biofeedback; there are a lot of case studies but no good controlled ones. It would be nice if it would prove to work. We need all the tools we can get. The only methods known to be effective are medication and behavior management. These are shown to work with a number of good random, controlled studies. The rest may be worth trying but be cautious of people trying to make a buck. "You pays your money and takes your chances"
With adhd kids, we as parents hope so much for a "fix". That we really haven't found one yet does not mean there is no hope. Lots of research going on with this.
Good luck

Dizfriz39377.4455092593What exactly does "metronome therapy" consist of?
I was wondering if anyone has any information on metronome therapy? Has anyone tried this and what result did you see? My ten year old son is moderate ADHD and we are thinking of asking his child psych. about this. Also, I know a lot of kids see neurologist's for adhd. We haven't done that and I was wondering what their place is, etc. in the world of ADHD. Any information would be appreciated.
Interactive Metronome.
Go to their website and search for authorized providers. OTs do this. It costs about 00. I have heard good things. The child must be over eight to benefit.
To give it a test drive, check out Dance, Dance Revolution at a video arcade. I've heard that it basically does the same thing, except has much fewer games.
