Abilify_need help ASAP! | ADHD Information
My son (6) has been on Abilify 0.5mg for 3 days now. Today he had no
control over his behavior. He is now aggressive, more compulsive, more
oppositional, obcessive, starting to stutter again, has difficulty getting the
words out.
Does Abilify gets worse before it gets better?
This is really making me mad.
So far nothing has worked. (Metadate CD, Concerta, Zoloft, Tenex, and
now Abilify). I feel none of these meds were worth all the side effects.
I am questionig wether I should give him his dose tonight.
Thanks for any response.
Abilify is an atypical antipsychotic, and is obviousyl not the right med. does he have a Comorbid? I would not stop it, but maybe ramp it down, it cannot be stopped suddenly.
I would call his Psychiatrist ASAP.
edbson39377.8350231481He takes 2mg pill cut in to a quater. So he takes .5 mg.
He does have a comorbid.
I don't like him on this.
All I am trying to do is get his attention and focus in check. Now I am
dealing with aggression and behaviors that were not really an issue.
He looks so stressed.
BTW: His doctor did not mention I should wean him off of it.
I don't think I can cuit the pill any smaller. My son tried Risperdal - made him very anxious, Zyprexa - didn't help, and now is on Seroquel in the evening and it has really helped. He also takes Trileptal 2x per day as a mood stabilizer. The Seroquel will make him very drowsy, so you should start it in the evening. We have not had any problems with weight gain. If he has a comorbid, depending on what it is, it probably needs to be treated first.
