Any experience with Adderall XR & Celexa | ADHD Information

my son is on adderall 15 mg and zoloft 12.5 mg (for anxiety).  This seems to be working well for him, no more breakdowns and fits for months now.I'm on 30 mg of Adderall XR and 40 mg of Celexa and haven't had any problems....i am a 22 year old college student, recently diagnosed with adhd. i was prescribed to adderroll xr and i hated it.

although my daydreaming tendancies were curbed, it made me nervouse, emotional, unsocial and jitterey.

i talked to my prescribing psychologist about this and he told me i probably had anxiety issues as well, and wanted to prescribe prozac. the funny thing is i never felt anxiouse until i took the adderoll.

well i told him no thanks, and ended my adderoll prescription as well. it seemed to me that it was just a money making scam. build one drug off of another. i didn't want to be a walking pharmacy and have resulted to alternatives.

try reading the book Driven to Distraction by Edward  M  Hallowell and John J. Ratey, both MDs. it discusses many different symptoms of adhd, and common misdiagnosis'.  often you can teach yourself to counter your problem.

when i notice my mind wanders a little too much, i usually just drink coffee or tea.

while not as strong, the caffiene seems to have some effect on my wandering mind, without the side effects.

My daughter has been on Adderall XR for a few weeks (5 mg).  Overall, her hyperactivity and implusiveness  have improved, but according to her teacher, she is having breakdowns several times a week and is generally tearful and anxious.  She is also OCD which is becoming more apparent as some of the other problem areas are going away.  She is typically a very happy girl with a terrific personality, so the breakdowns are a concern to the teacher and to us.  Luckily, the moody rebound behavior has gradually gone away.

Because of the teacher's concerns (and ours as well), my daughter's neurologist prescribed a small dose of Celexa.

Is there anyone who has tried this med combo with success?

I was on celexa and adderall for 2 years. The Adderall was great for all my AHDH problems and the Celexa helped with my mood, anxiety attacks and OCD tendancies I was having at the time. The two seem to work together very well.

Thanks for the info  That's pretty much what the neurologist said.  It's just always good to get affirmation from someone who has been there!
