Saw our soon to be old psych | ADHD Information
Yesterday we saw our soon to be old psychiatrist to refill my sons meds(that he spits out almost every day) and he basically told us we were bad parents and were letting him get away without taking the meds. He has an anxiety attack every am and gags them up. He is in therapy and his therapist says this is an anxiety issue as well as some other things(he doesn't own the problem) and we are working on it. I cannot wait till we see the new psychiatrist in 2 weeks and get rid of this old man who is set in his ways. He didn't even know about other meds when asked and lied to me about side effects. Oh Boy. No wonder my son doesn't respect or listen to him. I wouldn't either.Good luck with the new doc. A good fit is invaluable in this journey.

Having worked in social services I can attest that there are probably more idjits in the field than in any other. That said, good workers can help you get spectacular results over time.
Good luck!
Good luck with the new Dr. I know from experience that there are plenty of "not so good ones out there."
Believe me, you are not bad parents and I don't even know you. Any psychiatrist that would tell you that you are bad parents should be brought up on negligent charges.
I have a kid who won't even take tylenol unless he thinks he's on his death bed He's been that way since I can remember so I can certainly understand your child refusing to take meds. It has nothing to do with parenting.
You would not believe what I had to do to get him to take antibiotics last year - I had to buy a half gallon of icecream so he would mix it in and then he refused that!
