Can anyone tell me how you can tell whether you are bi polar or adhd? I have not been properly diagnosed with anything yet, but my therapist feels that there is a good possiblity that I have one of these disorders, maybe both, so that's what we're exploring right now. I know they are different, but my symptoms could be consistent with either of these. Thanks!
Studies show that 25% of people with adhd also have bipolar disease. The same is true with anxiety disorders. Most people think I have bipolar, but I'm certain I have adhd instead (or possibly as well, since I don't think I have bipolar). There's a lot of books that give you a list of symptoms for people with adhd. But there's potential that you have both.Thank you, Lynch, for the info. I am starting to realize through research that there are some people with both. I will take your advice and check out some books on the subject. Any recommendations?
I am having a hard time coping with the realization that I may have mental illness and/or Attention Deficit. I almost feel like I am grieving, feelings of loss, and anger. I also feel anxious, I just want to fix the problem so I can feel normal and get my life together. I am overwhelmed with emotion. Does everyone go through this when diagnosed?
This is all new to me, so if anyone has any thoughts or info. I would really appreciate it. Thanks again.
my husband has been diagnosed as both adhd and bipolar..he takes ritalin and seroquel and it seems to make him feel pretty normal...i have also read the book "an unquiet mind" i think it is and it was really fascinating re: bi polar disorder...u may want to ck it out...good luck!Hey there, I am the mother of an ADHD BiPolar son. You could be both and the only really effective way to tell is by the reactions that you have from the meds. They put my son on different meds to start. By deduction they figured out that he had both. Taking Ritilen can bring on a Manic state very fast. If your DR puts you on any ADHD meds, make sure that you can get an appointment as soon as you need it. There is no mistaking a manic state. Listen to the ones around you about your behavior. You may not be able to see it yourself.
