They don't get enough praise, so make sure you can give it to him. Let him know how proud you are. Isn't it just such a breath of fresh air and so nicely reassuring that you're headed down the right path. Yay!!Amazing isn't it.

My 9 yr. old (ADHD) has been playing football this year for the first time.  Their team made it to the "play- offs", but just barely.

Well, last night they had their first play- off game and lost 20- 0.   And he didn't throw a fit!  He was dissappointed, obviously, but there were no tears or nasty moods.  I'm just so impressed by how far he's come over the past year with his ability to deal with stuff like this.  Last year he played soccer and would be unbearable to be around if they lost a game.

I was uncertain about letting him play at all, but now I'm glad I did.  I love the way they run the league, and his coach was wonderful- kind, but really pushed the boys at the same time.  After every game he'd gather them back up and talk for a few minutes- praising the kids for trying hard and pointing out ways that they worked together.  I think that really made the difference about how upset they'd get after losing.

And, you know, I'm really thankful for these boards.  I can't think of any other place I could say this and have everyone really understand what a big deal this kind of progress is.

It's soo good to hear the postive after all we go thru during the day before the meds kick-in.  Thanks for reminding us of the things to be thankful for!

YEAH!!!
