cost of evaluation | ADHD Information

that is a solid start. The rest can wait.Ok - I am tracking down some neuropsychiatric doctors in my area and the only I can find so far has 9-5 all day session that costs 00 with 00 upfront 7 days prior to assessment. Does this seem accurate?

unfortunately yes.

If you are not able or ready to do this route newmom, can I make some alternative sugestions? Request school to do academic testing and get a psychiatrist evaluation.  The IDEAL route though is the 00.00 10 hour private neuropsych. IMO it is all dependant on how much he is struggling in school and if you are concerned about learning disability and/or giftedness. If it is only about behaviors and trying to get ADHD ruled out or diagnosed, you can probably start with psychiatrist evaluation and see how things go from there.

DD's private evals ranged from 00-00, Neeuropsych was more expensive. Ok - I will stick with the child psychiatrist appointment that I have scheduled at the end of the month which about 5. The gifted testing from the school/county is free. Plus, I just discovered a school county evaluation that could be a choice to discover more educational things. Also, I will see about his hearing and sight evaluations which will probably be covered by insurance or at least a little.
Will wait and see about all that and then I see if I need the other evaluation.

I live in an expensive area. The cost is 00 for a neuropsyche, cash. No insurance accepted. For a psychologost specializing in educational testing, 00, cash, no insurance accepted.

I also live in an expensive area, these prices would cover nothing and our insurance covers less. Take the child pych testing and go through the county, the school whoever you need to to get it done it is a good start. The neouropsych eval is worth it but can wait if treatment does not work. Do you really think it just the area you live in that makes it expensive or that there are only a handful of nueropsychologists? I sort of live in an expensive area but this doctor covers most of the my state where I am sure there are less expensive areas to live in.

Also, do you take your child off all medications in order to have this type of evaluation done? It seems logical in order to figure out all the symptoms but who knows.
newmom39392.3199537037I would ask the doctors office the medication issue but I would think not. Alot is done by questionaire and interview. Here the eval goes for abot 00.00 not 1500.00 So I guess it does make a difference where you live. No, there's a lot of neuropsyche's in my area. It is the cost of living here that makes it expensive. I would not bring my child medicated for an eval, because you can use a neuropsyche eval to get services from the school. That was the main purpose of mine, anyway. Just because the meds are working now doesn't mean they'll work next year. DD was tested off meds. Alot of Neuropsych's want them off meds for testing, to get a "real "idea of their abilities.

just had a neuropsychological evaluation done for my son who is 10.. i met with dr. for 1 hour, he had 9 hrs. of tests (done on 3 different days) and then we meet for the results next week.. It cost 3200, none covered by insurance..  i was told to have him on the meds because otherwise all that will come out of the tests would be that he is not able to focus and is hyper, (both of which we already know. )  Hope this helps..
