The New Doctor (haha) | ADHD Information

At least you know what you're doing if this Dr. is letting you call the shots.  And who knows where your son will be attitude-wise once the zoloft kicks in?  I really hope that he does take the zoloft like he says!  Does your son like bribes?  A soda to swallow the pill with, perhaps?

I feel so bad for you because I've been there and I know what you are going through. (hugs)

Please don't stop looking for the right fit and try to get a psychiatrist not just a therapist.  I had to switch insurance companies to be able to get who I wanted. A more expensive plan believe me.  I pay a lot more out of pocket for the premium but it's worth it.

I don't know your financial situtation, but I was willing to pay out of pocket if I couldn't get a good person.  Please don't give up.

Now that I have a good Dr. I can see that it was worth all the aggrevation to find him.

It can be so hard to find the right fit. I keep hoping my kid's doc does not retire before I get them through college.

O.K. This guy might be on my insurance but he was nothing more than a perscription pad. I basically told him what I wanted and he wrote the rx. I talked with him for approx 1/2 hour, gave him our "story" and then my Dh and DS came in. He tried to talk to the doc who asked like 4 questions, He didn't answer except to say he stoped the other med because it made him sick at bedtime. (mind you he has been sick at bedtime for over 1 year, on meds 2 weeks.) The other doc thought it was anxiety. This doc got out his Rx pad and agreed to call it a stomach and headahe pill and not anxiety at thiis time. He said mind you SAID, He would start it this weekend and he did tell me to give him the Zoloft(hmmm good choice he says)on a full stomach and see what happens. He wants him to try thr Focalin again agter he is medicated for the anxiety.

So it looks like I'll be the doc with this one, I pray one day I will get a caring, thurough doc who will actually GIVE A SH#T!

Well at least I just pay a copay for this jerk and will look at someone else while I look for a therapist(I have the choice of 3 males on my insurance) because his list only had one Phd on it. They were all just counselors(not that that is bad) and they were very far.

So It did not go as I had hoped, It was a little ADHD factory there and they see adults as well, which they told me they did not over the phone, he seemed more like an adult therapist. The search goes on.................

What are you looking for? Psychiatrists mostly just manage medication. Are you looking for medication management? BTW you should be able to go to a psychiatrist and a therapist simultaneously on your insurance since they don't do the same thing.Well I was hoping for someone with a caring personality, one who would at least introduce himself to us and maybe ask some important questions. He offered nothing much. At least I got the Zoloft rx I wanted, now let's hope there is no problem with the meds. I know he is not a therapist but a caring doctor goes a long way. I have my own walking RX pad I see every 2-3 months but at least he takes the time to listen to me and seems to want to do the right thing. This guy could have cared less.Well I was at my own walking Rx pad yesterday and got chewed out 1st for self medicatin by taking an extra anxiety pill then he got down to the HUGE list of what we have tried and my reactions and came up with Lexapro, I don't know why and of course he won't tell me but I am now to call him every morning until we get my anxiety and sleep under control. Swell at least he cares and knows something about meds.
