Zoloft | ADHD Information
My 8 year old has done very well on 12.5 given in the am. It just turned
down the emotional temperature quite nicely- no more huge outbursts and
meltdowns over nothing and an good decrease in anxiety. For the last month
we have tried 25 mg to see if decreased perseveration but it has not worked
for that. So I think we will go back to 12.5 as there is no change with the
higher dose.
Thanks for your input, I do know your history some. Did it affect her sleep in anyway? is morning the right time to take it? I am hoping to add the stim later and will address the decreasing of the zoloft when we do. (with this new doc I could practically just do it myself) what a joke.
She took it in the morning and it did not affect her sleep in any way.
We are to start Zoloft 12.5 to start them ramp to 25 mg if no problems, this weekend with my 9 year old for anxiety and depression. I would like to hear ANYTHING you have to say about it and it's side effects. Now I know it is different for everyone, I just don't feel I got enough real info from the net. spamula39392.2718402778Spamula, we used Zoloft last year. It was GREAT. DD had no side effects, and you know our history, that in itself was huge! She also started at 12.5 then went to 25 and eventually 37.5. We added a stumulant nad had to decrease the Zoloft as it does increase the blood level of methyphedinate when using both. Just be aware of that if you do end up adding a stimualnt in the future. Good Luck! I think you'll be happy with it. It takes a few weeks and the symptom relief is slow and gradual. Diane V39392.2796412037Holy cow. We are tapering down with Zoloft and the outbursts and tears are
overwhelming. Does anyone have some ideas about how to smooth things
out a bit during the tapering time?well day three today and he's already asking how long does he have to take it and when is it going to work(which I explained 20 times alreay it takes time). I do notice some behavioral issues and alot of whining. If this is how it's going to be to get him off ay yae yae! The doc wants me to up it in one week but I am thinking about 2 instead and we might add a stim so I want to keep it low He is small and med sensitive. Does the emotional stuff say side effect or what? I don't get it it could just be anxiety.we did not have any of these side effects with ZoloftCool, maybe the behavior thing is just his ADHD acting up with I'm sure is anxiety added, he is sick to his stomach every day and has headaches often. I am hoping we don't have too many side effects the doc said at such a low dose we shouldn't. I also explained to him it might take a couple of weeks to start feeling the difference. We crush it and put it on a a cheeze it (you can make a little sandwich) mixed with cream cheese or peanut butter. I break the pill in half, then crush it in a ramekin with the top of the pill bottle. I used to give it to my son in the morning. Lately we switched to evenings and there's no difference.
It has to build up in their system. I think I mentioned this before, but it can be VERY problematic to quite taking zoloft without weaning down. The only time we ever experienced side effects were when we tried to wean him off.
So kill me now He says last night "It's a pill? NO WAY!! It is smaller than 1/2 a tic tac I told him. NO Way HE SAYS. omg Save Me! My sanity has left the building.Well so far no side effects. The doc said ramp up to 25 in 1 week but i am thinking about 2 weeks I don't know. No symptom improvement yet(although last night was the first time in a year he didn't say his stomach hurt at bedtime? We will see.
