Ok, I know there's a million Daytrana threads....sorry.....
We see the p-doc next week for follow up.
I am looking for feedback for Daytrana folks and the differences in dose and side effects. We have been using the 10mg patch for about 6 weeks. The nausea, headache, sluggish side effects seem to have passed, but tics have started (as I expected), appetite is terrible, has lost weight. DD is AWFUL in the mornings (cant get out of her own way, cant do single task and complete it), and the evenings are not quite as bad just annoying, less task in the evening so we can deal. School is going well, but the feedback form the teacher is that she does need a lot of redirection and and is quite distracted. Doesnt follow directions and wants to everything her own way (partly due to adolescence), she said "she is completing all assignments and class work so although she is distracted, she can do her work".
OK so finally to my question, is it worth going ot a 15mg patch? Did those of you who increased see big increase in side effects? I hate to see that sluggish, falling asleep back on the higher dose and I cant imagine tics increasing, that'll be too disruptive. I think if she need SO much redirection and home is pretty rough is this really such a good med choice? We have tried about all stimulants except Vyvanse and pretty much end up here every time, giving up, obviously I will see what the doc says but he's pretty receptive to my ideas too. Do we try a higher does and hope the tics and weight loss dont get worse???.
Diane V39393.3942708333So we had no luck on the 10 mg. Seemed like she was taking no medication.
The 15mg worked like a charm. My daughter is a completely different person. I would not have believed the extreme change if I did not witness it myself.
Just one thought .... make sure your DD is drinking lots of fluids especially water. This was a recommendation by our scholl nurse (whose daughter has a PhD in pharmaceuticals). I can't explain it but the water helps with all the side effects. No more headaches.
