ALTERNATIVES TO STRATTERA???? | ADHD Information

St. Johns wort.  It is supposed to increase norepinephrine, dopamine and serotonin in the brain.

I took it for a while, and it definitely helped my social phobia and ADD.  It enabled me to think clearly under extremely high stress.

Proper diet and exercise help a lot for me (with or without medication). I find that high carb, high sugar foods seem to make my ADD much worse. Overeating in general makes it worse. I do better with rice, fruits & veggies, and either tofu, fish, or lean poultry.

Daily exercise also seems to help a lot. Even simple exercise like walking every morning or evening is great! Any outdoor activity such as gardening is great also.

Anything that is good for your body and brain helps.

And get enough sleep, and lay off the booze and cigarettes.

I also don't like to get on the cafienne rollercoaster.  the ups and downs are too much.

Meditation is very helpful if you are interested in that sort of thing.

TO OPENYOUR EYES:

I WAS JUST WONDERING IF THE ST. JOHNS WART WORKED SO WELL AND HELP WITH SOCIAL PHOBIA AND ADD THEN WHY DID YOU STOP USING IT?

I WOULD LOVE TO TRY SOMETHING NON-STIM BESIDES STRATTERA THAT I HAVE HEARD WORKS!

It makes your skin sensitive to sunlight.  It's still an option.  It helped mostly with my self-esteem and confidence while doing public speaking.  It definitely helps with reducing negative self-discourse, and increasing self-esteem.  It really is an amazing chemical, but I'm still looking for something with better cognitive enhancement, something that will wake up my brain.

Take it along with 3000mg of fish oil a day for an amazing calming effect.  In fact, it made me to relaxed.  ADD's need something that will wake up their brains, not relax them.

Side effects were mild headaches, photo-sensitivity and some tiredness.
