Daytrana-what to do now? | ADHD Information

The patch takes 2 hours to start working, and should be worn for only 9 hours, not 12. I would go up in the dosage, but give it a few days first.

We have been on Daytrana for several months.

It took a few days to notice a change in my DD behavior.  We had to go from 10mg to 15mg.

I think Daytrana is having manufacturing problems.  We went months thinking this was a miracle drug.

Then we hot a REALLY bad streak ... same old behavior.  I noticed it was about the time I started a new box.  Also we were having problems opening some of these patches.

This weekend we ditched the half used box and opened a new one.  Much improved.

We get our Daytrana in lots of 3 boxes from our mail order pharmacy.  Whatis funny is all 3 boxes had the same lot number and same expiration date.  We had already used the other 2 boxes with no problems.

I did call Shire to complain and they sent me a card for 40 free patches.

If you go to the daytrana page ... www.daytrana.com there is a voluntary recall.

Our package was NOT part of the recall.

My daughter had been struggling in school the last few weeks.  We saw some really bad ... old behavior.  But the icing on the cake was 3 days in a row 3 different teachers called home.

Her homeroom/English teacher described DD before medicine and was wondering if we had done something DRAMATIC.  That is when I put 2 and 2 together.

Shire did not openly admit there were control issues .... What they said is that they were experiencing ongoing problems they weren't able to resolve.  The customer service rep was REALLY concerned I may change medicine.

I do think they are trying.  They asked if I would be willing to send them 5 unopened patches for them to study.  I agreed.

I can't imagine that Shire would admit there was a quality control issue. What was the reason they gave for the free patches?

I just filled a new script with a completely different lot number so we'll see how it goes tomorrow.

What was your lot number?

This is our first day on the Daytrana patch.  It has now been on for 3 hours, and what do I see?  Absolutelly NOTHING!!!!!

He was on 15 mg of Focalin and it was time to up the amount again, so we thought we would try this.  We gave him a 15mg patch 3 hours ago, and nothing.  There were no problems peeling the backing off, and it is still on his hip good.

What do ya'll think?

Thanks Diane V!

It's now been almost 6 hours and still nothing.  I just cut another one in half and added to his hip.  I don't know if it will help, but it certainly couldn't hurt.

oh boy, good luck. My daughter is on the 10mg patch and today she may as well not have anything, seems pretty inconsistent at this dose. Diane V39396.4324652778My son's been on it for over a year and I'm starting to think that there are differences depending on exactly where on the hip it's placed.  Some days he seems to get a lot, other days not so much.  I haven't quite figured it out yet, and you can't always have it on the same spot because of the rash.

Didn't someone write here once that the longer they wear the patch (over months), the more the med is absorbed into the system?

Jo2, I remember reading that too, but for us, she had a lot of side effects the first couple of weeks, they then subsisded and we had several really good weeks while the patch was on, now we're ery inconsistent again, lots of distractabilty, inattention, all her symptoms, not being relieved and we're at about week 7 or 8.Try to give it a couple of days if you can. If you are not seeing syptom relief I'd call the doctor to see fi you can try a 20. My daughter is on 10mg and we see it starting to take affect about 1.25-1.5 hours after it goes on, then at 2 hours she's at where she'll be until we take it off. Then we get about 1.5-2.5 hours once it's off. By three hours you should be seeing symptom relief.

Okay,  after I put the 2nd patch on, about 2 1/2 hours later, I did notice some calm.  I just took both of them off (12 hours later).  I will try the 1 1/2 patches tomorrow and see if that is better from the start.

My lot # is 2656311 Exp. 08-09 15 mg.

I posted about this before.  I think there is something wrong with the patches we got.  Ever since we started the new box (only the second month on it), it has been inconsistent at best.  Two teachers called to say that he was having problems in school starting with the week we got the new boxe.

So yesterday we went back to Ritalin LA and he had a good day at school. He said one of his teachers told him that.

Today he took the Ritalin again and I didn't like it.  He was all zoned out when it was kicking on.  Then he got very emotional.

I really like the patch better but maybe there are quality control issues.

Can everyone post their lot numbers to compare?  I am not having any trouble with the glue on the backing. I was with the first box.  It's just not working as well.

I have Daytrana 10 mg. Lot no. 2617211 Exp. 06-09.

I also have 10 mg 2617211 Exp. 06-09,

maybe thats why we're seeing so much inconsistency? I also am having NO trouble with the backing on these. Our first box we did, and it was part of the recall.
