advice on Daytrana and sleepovers | ADHD Information

Diane, I would give her the RitalinLA on those days until you see about the strattera. It will help her with the minimum of difficulty and not embarase her. I think that is a good idea.

OK, new Dytrana dilemma.

What do you all you Daytrana users do when your child has a sleepover? Even at 13, my daughter could not manage to do the patch herself. She is kind of old to have other childrens Moms helping her place a patch on her hip. Last night she slept at a friends and it was just the Dad home this am, so she didnt even put it on. Luckily I picked her up at 8:30 (but she had a class at 9:00). Last time she slept at my Mom's it was a disaster, they couldnt even do it together, it was all peeling off. Tomorrow night she's sleeping at her other grandmother's who is 79 and I wouldn't even ask to help her. I think I'll give her a Ritalin LA, I have a couple from ther last prescription before we stopped them. A pill she handle alone.

Hi Diane:

My son still doesn't swallow pills so I keep the 2.5 chewable regular Ritalin around for situations like that.  It may be worth getting the Rilatin LA filled again for these occasions.  Because it's a capsule, I think it has a longer shelf life than the Ritalin pills.
thanks good idea. If we end up switching to or adding Strattera, it may not matter as I will just not use the stimulant on the days she does a sleepover, she can just take the Strattera.
