PRESCRIBED TWO MEDICATIONS | ADHD Information
Very common, but make sure the Psychiatrist ramps the Strattera properly, and doses according to her weight. It IS dosed by weight. I agree with Diane, I would try a fast acting am pill that would give you coverage antil the vyvanse kicks in enough. It would be out of her system in 3-4 hours. I might try this first before Strattera but it is your docots call ans yes, make sure it is ramped properly.I HAVE A DAUGHTER THAT IS 8 YEARS OLD. WE ARE CURRENTLY ON OUR THIRDS MEDICATION. SHE IS CURRENTLY TAKING VYVANSE. DOES ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE A CHILD THAT TAKES A MEDICATION IN THE MORNING AND THEN TAKES ANOTHER MEDICATION AT NIGHT.SO WHEN THERE CHILD WAKES UP IN THE MORNING THEY ALREADY HAVE MEDICATION IT THERE SYSTEM.OUR DOCTOR IS THINKING ABOUT HAVING MY DAUGHTER ON THE VYVANSE DURING THE DAY AND THEN FOR HER TO TAKE STRATTERA AT NIGHT.WHEN ARE GOING TO DO IT THIS WAY BECAUSE WE HAVE REALLY BAD MORNINGS.I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYBODY ELSE HAS THER CHILD ON SOMETHING LIKE HTAT AND IF IT HELPS. I WANT MY CHILD TO HAVE A QUALITY OF LIFE AND IF THEIS IS GOING TO HELP HER THEN I WILL DO IT.
yes this is commom practice.
Another alternative is to give her a fast acting medication early in the morning, like 5-6 am, then take her Vyvanse on the way out the door to school. Short acting meds are out of the system in 4 hours. If you can wake her up an hour or so before she has to get up and she'll take it, but the time she wakes up, it is already taking effect. Then by the time she gets ready for school and the Vyvanse takes effect the regular release is leaving the system.
