hi im new to all this my daughter has just been diagnosed with adhd and will be starting to take medication its frightening for both me and her how do you no which is best for your child Hi Mary, Try posting on the "Parents of ADHD Children Message Board". To find it, go back to the list of boards. There is a lot more activity there and a lot of experienced parents who will help you and give you a place to vent or ask questions. Many of us made the decision to medicate our children, although it is never an easy decision. In our case, it improved our lives 100% with very few side effects (once we found the right dose). It takes some trial and error. If she will be on a stimulant (like Ritalin or Adderal), you should see an immediate improvement and if you don't like the side effects, the med is out of their systems within hours. Ritalin has been around for 50 years and has been heavily researched. Anyway, try reposting on the other board and see if you get more responses. If you add more details, you will get more accurate information. Joy2 |
