I think the stomach pains are normal... I'm on strattera and I always have them...Your daughter migh have them worse then I...

um, probably not related.

Her dose is probably too high though, her target would be 28-43 mgs, with 43 being the absolute highest.

What kind of Dr prescribed, and did she ramp it properly?

My daughter was perscribed the Strattera by her pedi.  I have since changed doctors becuase I wasn't happy with her lack of knowledge of ADD meds and failure to monitor.  She did not ramp up properly.  I plan to drop her to 36mg starting tommorow.

Thanks, Lara

My daughter is now suffering from severe anxiety.  She can't eat and is barely interacting.  I think we are going to have to take her to the emergency room today.  The doctors keep saying it's not related to the Strattera.  Family thinks otherwise.  I hate not knowing what the right thing to do is!!!!!!!!!!!

Very Worrried

please keep us posted. If she's been on the Strattera since August I just wonder why she's is reacting to it now, 3 months later. Sounds like she needs to see the doctor no matter what.

I agree, she's going to the doctor today.  She did have some minor issues at 25mg, she was crying and said she felt nevous.  We decided it was  because her dose was too low and we increased it to 36mg, which resolved the problem.  The decline in appetite with the increase.  That was about a little over a month ago.  On Halloween we increased her to 40mg so she would only have to swallow one pill and becuase we thought she needed just a little extra.  I dropped it to 36 again this week to try and stimulate her appetite.  While we were in FL she was eating much more frequently but could only eat a small amount before running to the bathroom with diarrhea.

Thanks!

I don't think this is related to Strattera. Sounds viral to me. Don't know about your area, but we've had plenty of stomach bugs going around. There is a very rare side effect of liver problems with Strattera.....Have you looked into that?

My Dr. did mention that we needed to monitor liver function with the Strattera, but she also said that it was very rare that it would do any harm.  Rare is not without any chance for damage...so I would definately get it checked out.  What I'm curious about is how your DOC can't take you seriously.  ADHD meds are VERY serious, and most have side effects.  It seems like you should find a doc who actually LISTENS to you and is trying to find the best solution for your daughter.  I have found that my instincts are the thing to follow.  If your instincts are telling you something is amiss...go with it.  Parents have the most insight into the effects, good or bad, that the medicine is having on the childs body and mind.
