Is there some other adult you trust you can talk to? An aunt or neighbour perhaps?

I  keep trying to talk to my mom about my depression and my ADHD and she always yells at me anything I can do? Sorry your mom isn't being more supportive of you. It took me meds for anxiety to stop the yelling around here. Now things are more peaceful. I know alot of adults won't take the responsibility to get help when they need it too. Just know we are here for you.    Well no not really. The only person is my therapist...  How about a counselor at school?  Definitely talk to your therapist. Maybe your mom needs someone to talk to as well.  I'm sorry she isn't being more supportive.

I'm sorry you feel your mom isn't listening.  Hopefully your therapist can help open the communication between the two of you.

How old are you, by the way?

 I am 13...

A teenager who wants to talk to his mom -- how fabulous!  At a good moment when everyone is calm and things are going well, I recommend asking your mom if you could talk to her about some things and then say what you're thinking.  Make sure to use "I" language (I feel, I am, etc.) and not to blame her (you make me feel ____ is a big no-no).  It's also effective to say "We" as in "I'd like it if we figure out a way to talk to each other without anybody yelling."  Good luck!  Get the therapist's guidance if this doesn't work.

Thanks!     Well my fav is John Coltrain... If you want and the board lets it happen I can send you the link to my youtube account where I upload my self playing. I also like Paul Desmond.... Also I do play some trumpet when I have the chance. I have a Holton.

What  specifically is your mom yelling at you about? Sometimes the ADHD and everything else that goes along with it can be stressful for us moms too.

I agree with everyone and she may need some help too but it's hard to admit that.

I like your signature - my son is a gifted trumpet player and his dad is a professional sax player. Who is your favorite sax player?

Well you keep posting our young friend, and we will try to see what we can come up with

Wow - I wish you could meet my son - you'd have lots in common.  He hasn't admitted to having ADD yet and it's sad but he is seeing the psychiatrist willingly.

I'd love to see your U-tube link. How cool. What do you play - tenor - alto - baritone?

Those are some pretty heavy players you listen to  - good for you. You are listening to the greats.  My husband, who also teaches, says you have to listen to the greats to know where you've been.

My personal favorites are Illinois Jacquet and Arnett Cobb - I like the texas tenors and swing blues.  My husband's hero is Gerry Mulligan.

My son is into the older trumpet players - Harry James and the guys from the 40's and 50's.

Do you think you could have a session with your therapist and your mom?  I think I saw your post on another thread about insurance problems? Was that you?

Keep trying to talk to her but I agree, don't put any blame on her.  Try to find out what is getting her so angry.
